Amba Dalmia Foundation Trust (ADFT), founded in 2013 in New Delhi by Dr. Gun Nidhi Dalmia and Mr. Agastya Dalmia in memory of their daughter Amba, is a non‐profit working to empower marginalized communities in India. Their holistic approach combines education, sports, emotional wellbeing, and skill development, with the goal of fostering dignity, independence, and lasting social change.

Project Detail – Chhanv Foundation × Amba Dalmia Foundation Trust

Integrated Psychosocial Support & Livelihood Empowerment for Acid Attack Survivors

Objective:


To provide holistic rehabilitation and empowerment opportunities for acid attack survivors through psychosocial counselling, cognitive development, skills training, and pathways for sustainable livelihoods.

Key Components:

  • Psychological Counselling & Emotional Well-Being (Project Saahas):
    Regular one-on-one and group counselling sessions to address trauma, anxiety, and social stigma, building resilience and emotional stability.

  • Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy:
    Initial assessments conducted by PhysioKarma, followed by recommended physiotherapy and occupational-therapy interventions to improve functional independence and quality of life. Equipment requirements will be identified by PhysioKarma and provided by Amba Dalmia Foundation Trust; ongoing implementation costs will be shared equally by both partners.

  • Cognitive & Brain Training Modules:
    Structured activities designed to enhance focus, problem-solving, and mental agility for survivors, helping them re-engage with education and work.

  • Skill Development & Vocational Pathways:
    Survivors will undergo aptitude and interest mapping after 5–6 months of psychological intervention, followed by tailored skill-training programmes (tailoring, beauty & wellness, digital literacy, etc.) to promote financial independence.

  • Community Engagement & Awareness:
    Joint events and campaigns to build public sensitivity, reduce stigma, and encourage inclusion of acid-attack survivors into mainstream society.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Enhanced emotional resilience and mental health for survivors

  • Increased participation of survivors in income-generating activities

  • Improved social inclusion and community awareness

  • A replicable rehabilitation model that can be scaled to other regions
